Atukulu Upma or Poha is another quick breakfast or snack which Shilpi keeps asking for regularly. It’s a real easy to whip up in less than 20 minutes even when I am being interrupted constantly every 2 minutes
.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Atukulu
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 3 green chili, diced small
- 1/4 tsp jeera
- 1/4 tsp rai
- 1/4 tsp urad dal
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 10 curry leaves
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Method
- Heat the oil and ghee together in a pan.
- Add the seasonings ( jeera, rai, urad and red chilli) to the pan.
- Next add the curry leaves
- Add the onions and green chili. Saute till the onions become translucent in color.
- Add the turmeric and salt. mix well
- Wash the Atukulu with water and squeeze out any excess. Add them to the onions.
- Mix well and cook for a few min.
- Reomve from heat, add the lomon jusice and mix well again.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- Lemon juice is optional but this really tastes great with lemon in it.
